“In five audacious episodes, failed architect and arch-sociopath Jack (Matt Dillon) recounts the elaborately orchestrated murders — each, as he views them, as a towering work of art — that define his “career” as a serial killer.”
Surrealism, dark humor and somewhat nonsensical rantings on architecture, history and cinema itself make “The House That Jack Built” for a fantastic mix of radical commentary on the relationship between violence and art. Uma Thurman, the legendary, late Bruno Ganz and Riley Keough also star.
Despite all the controversy surrounding this film (mostly impart to a lengthy scene where children get shot) “The House That Jack Built” still received a standing ovation for von Trier, who is still regarded as a cinematic visionary, especially in France.
This boundary pushing film makes it’s Blu-ray and DVD debut February 4th, 2019, from Scream Factory in conjunction with IFC Films. The two-disc release contains both the director’s cut and the theatrical cut of the film, as well as an interview with director Lars von Trier as a bonus feature, as well as the theatrical and teaser trailers.
